Talent has always been the driving force behind media and culture. The creators doing the work rarely see the enterprise value they generate — because the infrastructure wasn’t built for them.
Until now, there’ve been two options. Go it alone — and carry the 60% of the job that isn’t making the show. Or sign a traditional deal that takes your IP, your independence, or both.
Pickup is the third path. A creator services agency built for independent video podcasters who want a partner, not a platform. Marketing, monetization, production, PR, live events, distribution — built around the show so the creator can focus on making it.
Partner, not platform.
Eric Eddings is the Co-Founder and CEO of Pickup Media & Entertainment. A former SVP at Hartbeat and veteran of Spotify and SiriusXM, he has spent his career building podcast and digital content that centers creators of color. He co-created For Colored Nerds and The Nod — two of the most recognized independent Black podcasts of the past decade — and has worked as a creator, executive producer, and network executive, giving him a complete view of what it takes to build something that lasts.
Lesley Gwam is the Co-Founder and COO of Pickup Media & Entertainment. After building her foundation across Spotify Studios and Gimlet Media, she has spent her career doing what she has always been drawn to: finding the right shows, getting behind them, and making sure they reach the audience they deserve. At Spotify she brought The Bridge: 50 Years of Hip-Hop with Nas to life, and in the years that followed she executive produced ReLiving Single, the #1 TV & Film podcast with over 1M views across streaming platforms, and helped grow One Song into a top 10 music podcast. A licensed attorney and MBA who is equally seasoned as a producer and dealmaker, she has spent her career proving that the best thing you can do for a great show is surround it with someone who understands both its cultural worth and its commercial potential — and she is both of those people.
